Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has praised the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for conducting what he described as a transparent, peaceful and credible primary elections, while commending party members across the state for their unity, discipline and commitment to democratic principles.

Speaking shortly after participating in the exercise in his ward in Oha, Okpe Local Government Area, Governor Oborevwori said the direct primary model adopted by the APC reflected genuine internal democracy and grassroots participation, adding that it should serve as a reference point for political engagement and party administration across the country.

The Governor stressed the need to sustain unity within the APC, noting that reconciliation mechanisms would be put in place to address grievances and strengthen party cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, peace, inclusiveness and internal harmony remain critical to building a stronger political structure capable of delivering on its objectives.

Announcing the results in the Ward, the returning officer, Chief Isaac Itebu, said the Governor scored 4,759 votes out of the 4,760 registered members to affirm Governor Oborevwori as the APC governorship candidate, describing the turnout as a reflection of widespread support for the Governor.

Also speaking after participating in the exercise at Onicha-Ukwuani Ward 5, Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, called on Deltans to replicate the impressive turnout recorded during Thursday’s APC governorship primary during the 2027 general elections.

Onyeme described the massive participation by party faithful as a strong endorsement of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration and policies, adding that the level of engagement demonstrated growing public confidence in the government.

At the ward, the Returning Officer, Mr. Great Omulu, announced that 3,157 votes were recorded under the Option A4 voting system, with party members participating peacefully in the process.

The governorship primary, supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and attended by party leaders, stakeholders and supporters, was conducted peacefully across all the wards in Delta State, further reinforcing the APC’s message of internal democracy, unity and preparedness ahead of future electoral contests.
