Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and Senator Ede Dafinone for the 2027 general elections, signaling what many see as an early move in the build-up to the next political cycle.

The endorsement, which received the backing of all 11 ward coordinators in the council, was announced during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Sapele. Party leaders said the decision was based on their confidence in the leadership qualities and performance of the trio.

Chief Lucky Esigie, the pioneer APC chairman in Sapele, moved the motion for their adoption as sole candidates. He noted that the endorsement demonstrated the resolve of party stakeholders to promote continuity and consolidate the party’s direction ahead of the elections. The motion, seconded by Mrs Thelma Tonwe, was unanimously approved by voice vote and met with a standing ovation.

Speaking at the meeting, convener Chief Patrick Akamovba explained that the endorsement of Senator Dafinone was driven by his track record and visible impact in office. According to him, the senator has earned broad support across Delta Central through effective representation.

Akamovba also cautioned potential aspirants eyeing the Delta Central Senate seat to reconsider, arguing that Dafinone has built a strong political base that would be difficult to challenge.

In remarks that carried political undertones, he compared Dafinone’s approach to representation with that of past leaders, stating that development efforts are now more evenly distributed across the senatorial district rather than concentrated in a single area—an observation many interpreted as a subtle critique of previous leadership styles.

Observers note that the inclusion of Governor Oborevwori in the endorsement points to shifting alliances and strategic positioning that could influence political dynamics in Delta State ahead of 2027.

With the APC in Sapele openly backing Tinubu, Oborevwori, and Dafinone, analysts believe the move sends a strong early signal about the emerging contest, reinforcing the view that political maneuvering for the 2027 elections is already gaining momentum.
