Epiphany Azinge, the Asagba of Asaba, has withdrawn from his role as chairman of the technical committee overseeing plans for the proposed Anioma State.
The monarch announced his exit in a statement released on Friday by his personal secretary, Jude Mgbeze.
Azinge said he remains “irreversibly committed” to the creation of Anioma State, but only within its “historically recognised Anioma entity.”
According to him, the decision to step aside became necessary due to “irreconcilable differences” concerning the boundaries and territorial delineation proposed for the new state.
