Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed condolences to the family of former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, following the death of his mother, Mrs. Mary Amaechi.
In a condolence message, Atiku said he joined the family, friends, and associates of Amaechi whom he described as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate—in mourning the loss of the family matriarch.
He described the late Mrs. Amaechi as a devoted Christian who lived an exemplary life of faith, worship, and selfless service to her community.
“I am told that she lived an exemplary Christian life marked by devotion to God, faithful worship, and selfless service to her community,” Atiku said.
The former vice president noted that Mrs. Amaechi was widely regarded as a mother to many, adding that her greatest legacy was raising one of Nigeria’s distinguished political leaders.
“She was a mother to all who crossed her path, and Nigeria remains deeply indebted to her memory for raising one of our outstanding statesmen and great patriots, His Excellency Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation,” he stated.
Atiku prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and asked God to grant comfort and strength to her family and loved ones during the period of mourning.
“I pray that God grants her beautiful soul eternal rest and comforts the family, friends, and loved ones she has left behind,” he added.
