The remains of Pastor Monday Igbinigiesu Omokaro, former Edo State Youth Coordinator of the Deeper Life Student Outreach (DLSO), have been laid to rest amid glowing tributes celebrating his life of unwavering Christian service and leadership.

Family members, church leaders, friends and well-wishers gathered for the lying-in-state, service of songs held at the headquarters church of Deeper Life, Ekehuan road, Benin City and interment, where they reflected on the late cleric’s dedication to God, the church and the younger generation.

During the service of songs, Scripture was read from 1 Corinthians 15:12–26 and 50–58, while tributes and testimonies highlighted Pastor Omokaro’s impactful ministry and enduring legacy. Congregants sang hymns including Last Mile of the Way, Only Remembered, Farther Along and When We All Get to Heaven, creating an atmosphere of solemn reflection and hope.

The Deeper Life Youth Choir, Young Professionals Forum (YPF) and Adult Choir also rendered songs centred on the hope of the rapture, eternal life and the second coming of Christ.

Delivering the funeral sermon titled “Death of the Gallant,” the Region Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Adolor Region, Pastor Noble Agbonlahor, described the deceased as a devoted Christian who remained faithful in God’s service until the end of his life.

Drawing his message from John 11:25–26 and John 12:24, Pastor Agbonlahor encouraged mourners to remain steadfast in their Christian faith and commitment to God’s work, assuring them that faithful service would not go unrewarded.

“There is a reward for every soldier of Christ who remains faithful and overcomes trials and temptations,” he said.

One of the most emotional moments of the ceremony came during the tribute by Pastor Omokaro’s wife, Mrs. Georgina Omokaro, alongside those of his children, before the interment service.

Pastor Omokaro served the Deeper Life Bible Church in several leadership capacities over the years, beginning with the Deeper Life Student Outreach (DLSO), the youth arm of the church.

He served as a House Leader before becoming the District Representative of Ozolua District Church and later Group Supervisor of the then Ewah-East Circular Centre. He eventually rose to become the Edo State Youth Coordinator, where he provided leadership to youth and student ministries across the state.

Through Tuesday Night Vigils, student outreaches and leadership development programmes, he was widely recognised for strengthening the faith of many believers through prayer, mentorship and sound Christian leadership.

Although his death came earlier than many expected, speakers at the funeral agreed that his impact would continue to resonate within the church and beyond.

Many described him as a faithful servant whose labour for the Kingdom continues to inspire those he mentored, noting that the work to which he dedicated his life remains a lasting testimony of his commitment to God.

Pastor Monday Igbinigiesu Omokaro was born on January 1, 1966, to Mr. and Mrs. Omokaro of Erua Community in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State.
