Hundreds of travellers have been left stranded after severe flooding submerged a section of the busy Ore-Benin Expressway, disrupting the free flow of traffic.

A trending video circulating on social media shows floodwaters covering a significant portion of the highway, forcing motorists to halt their journeys as vehicles struggle to navigate the affected area.

The development has triggered a major traffic gridlock, with passengers and commercial drivers reportedly waiting for water levels to recede before continuing their trips.

The Ore-Benin Expressway is one of Nigeria’s major transport corridors, linking the South-West to the South-South and South-East regions. Any disruption along the route often results in significant delays for commuters and the movement of goods.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution, avoid driving through flooded sections of the road, and consider alternative routes where possible. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the situation or announce measures to restore normal traffic flow.

The report is based on a trending video,  based on footage circulating online.
