An Army Brigade General and 15 other Senior Military Officers are in detention over an alleged Coup plot to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The officers were detained after an intelligence revealed plans to stage a coup d’etat against present administration.
There are claims that the alleged plotters planned to execute the coup during the October 1 Independence Day celebration parade
Meanwhile, it’s being alleged that the October 1 Independence celebrations were cancelled due to fears that the alleged plotters planned to execute the coup during the parade.
The Presidency has maintained silence over the matter while security analyst continue to point to internal discontent within the military as potential fuel as extreme tendencies among some officers.
