Canadian music icon Celine Dion has made a rare public appearance in Paris, receiving an emotional welcome from fans as she prepares for her long-awaited return to the concert stage.
The 58-year-old singer arrived at the Hotel Le Royal Monceau on Friday, August 28, where a large crowd of admirers had gathered to welcome her. Dressed in a beige trench coat, black boots and dark sunglasses, Dion smiled, waved, blew kisses and briefly interacted with fans and journalists outside the hotel.
Her Paris appearance comes ahead of a 16-show concert residency at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, with the first performance scheduled for September 12. The shows will run through October 17, with an additional 10 performances planned for May 2027 following overwhelming demand.
The upcoming concerts represent a major milestone in Dion’s career after years away from regular touring following her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that she publicly disclosed in 2022.
The condition forced the Grammy-winning singer to cancel her Courage World Tour and step back from live performances. Her appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, where she performed Edith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour,” was her most notable public performance during that period.
Speaking to French broadcaster BFMTV, Dion acknowledged that returning to the stage after such a long break was both exciting and nerve-racking.
The singer has kept details of her comeback performance under wraps, even declining to reveal which song she will use to open the Paris shows, describing it as a “big secret.”
With fans already gathering to welcome her back, Dion’s return to Paris is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated musical comebacks of the year.
