The Defense Headquarters (DHQ) has concluded investigations into disciplinary cases involving sixteen officers earlier arrested for acts of indiscipline and breaches of service regulations.

This was disclosed by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, who said the investigation report has been forwarded to the appropriate superior authority in line with extant military regulations.

It will be recalled that the Defence Headquarters, in October 2025, announced the arrest of the officers over allegations bordering on misconduct. According to the AFN, the investigation was conducted in line with established military procedures and thoroughly examined the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the affected personnel.

Major General Uba explained that findings from the investigation identified some of the officers as having cases to answer, including allegations related to plotting to overthrow the government, acts which he described as inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards expected of members of the Armed Forces.

He noted that officers found culpable would be formally arraigned before appropriate military judicial panels to face trial in accordance with the provisions of the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations.

According to him, the process is aimed at ensuring accountability while upholding the principles of fairness and due process within the military justice system.

The AFN further emphasised that the actions being taken are purely disciplinary and form part of its internal institutional mechanisms to preserve order, discipline and operational effectiveness within the ranks.

Major General Uba reiterated the commitment of the Armed Forces to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty and respect for constitutional authority.
