As political activities surrounding the Delta State APC senatorial primaries intensify, concerns have continued to trail the growing influence of money and power in the contest, especially among party leaders.

A chieftain of the party, Aghogho Abraham Orotomah, took to his Facebook page to lament what he described as the neglect of loyal party youths amid the ongoing political struggle allegedly moved to Abuja.

In the post, Orotomah claimed that huge sums of money, including thousands of dollars and billions of naira, were being spent in the course of the political battle, while many grassroots supporters and youths remained impoverished.

According to him, much of the money allegedly being spent on political lobbying and consultations was ending up in the pockets of non-Deltans, while local party faithful continued to struggle with economic hardship.

He accused some political actors of deliberately refusing to empower young supporters in order to keep them dependent and politically vulnerable.

“While youths are busy insulting one another online with empty stomachs and struggling to charge their phones at charging centres, billions are being spent elsewhere,” he wrote.

Orotomah further called on Delta APC youths to reflect on their situation and seek ways to improve their welfare rather than engage in divisive political attacks.

The comments have since sparked reactions among party supporters as consultations and alignments continue to gather momentum.
