The Delta State House of Assembly has indicted the Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu, for financial recklessness, misappropriation of funds, and disregard for the institution’s Governing Council as well as the law establishing the polytechnic.
The indictment followed a parliamentary probe into allegations of administrative and financial misconduct at the institution. In its resolution, the Assembly upheld the six-month suspension earlier imposed on Prof. Achuenu by the Governing Council.
In addition, the House also directed that the Bursar of the Polytechnic be suspended for six months over related infractions uncovered during the investigation.
Lawmakers emphasized the need for accountability and adherence to due process in the management of public institutions, reiterating their commitment to ensuring transparency and good governance in the state’s tertiary education sector.
