Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated the immediate‑past Governor of the state, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, on his appointment as South‑South Coordinator of the “Renewed Hope Initiative” by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker described the appointment as well‑deserved and said “the Delta State House of Assembly looks forward to the positive impact of Dr Okowa’s stewardship on the region and the nation”.

Rt. Hon. Guwor explained that Dr Okowa’s integrity, strategic vision, competence and ability to mobilise stakeholders have earned him the confidence of Mr President and the respect of his peers nationwide.

Guwor who is the National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, added that the appointee has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that define the South‑South geopolitical zone.

He highlighted Dr Okowa’s unwavering commitment to the region’s development and his proven record of transparent governance, noting that the appointment signals a renewed focus on inclusive growth and infrastructure advancement in the Niger Delta, in line with the Renewed Hope Initiative’s objectives.

“His Excellency, Dr Okowa’s leadership will be pivotal in translating the President’s vision into tangible projects that uplift the people of the South‑South and reinforce the administration’s commitment to equitable national development,” Guwor said.

The Speaker expressed confidence that collaboration among the Delta State Government, the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Federal Government will bolster President Tinubu’s agenda and enhance his prospects for a successful re‑election in 2027.

“The unity and progress that this appointment fosters are testament to the President’s strategic foresight and Dr Okowa’s capacity to deliver results. It is a win for the South‑South, a win for Nigeria, and a strong foundation for the President’s continued mandate,” he added.
