The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, on Saturday, said that award or title is for the recipient to do more for the society.

He made the statement shortly after he was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Ochili Ozua of Aboh Kingdom by His Imperial Majesty, Obi Oputa III, the Obi of Aboh Kingdom in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to the Deputy Governor, “recognition is a challenge for such recognized person to do more.

“I am happy with this title as it is evident that my activities for the good of the society are not going unnoticed.

“I will work more and do more to emancipate our people, especially, the less privileged among us.”

The Deputy Governor was conferred by the King during the celebration of New Yam Festival of the Aboh Kingdom.

Obi Oputa III told the Deputy Governor at the colourful and well attended event that featured boat regatta, among other activities that the chieftaincy titile was in recognition of his efforts in supporting the less privileged in the society.

He said, “We are honouring you with a chieftaincy title today for your outstanding charity work all over the State and beyond.

“We have chosen the title, Ochili Ozua of Aboh Kingdom for you based on your humanitarian activities.

“It is not easy to do charity work, the humanitarian work you do for people all over the world, we want to honour you with this chieftaincy title.”

The New Yam festival celebration marks the end of the farming season and welcomes a new harvest season.
