The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Edo State, Mr. Obo Effanga, and the Co-Chairman of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, have met with heads of various security agencies in the state to strengthen preparations for the 2027 General Election.

The meeting, held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, focused on election security, inter-agency collaboration and strategies to ensure a peaceful, secure and successful conduct of the forthcoming general election in Edo State.

Discussions also centred on the need for sustained cooperation, effective information sharing and coordinated security arrangements among relevant agencies to safeguard the electoral process before, during and after the elections.

The participants emphasised the importance of proactive security planning and stronger collaboration among the various agencies in addressing potential security challenges that could affect the electoral process.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by INEC and security stakeholders to create a secure environment for voters, election officials, political parties and other participants in the 2027 electoral process.

INEC Edo State reaffirmed its commitment to working with relevant stakeholders towards a peaceful, credible and successful 2027 General Election in the state.
