The Delta State Government has condemned the violent incident that occurred in Effurun on Sunday, describing it as unacceptable and warning that those responsible will face the full weight of the law.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the government was deeply disturbed by videos of the incident circulating on social media and other online platforms.
Aniagwu specifically condemned the brutal attack on Simon Mudi, describing the assault as barbaric and inconsistent with the peace and order the state government is committed to upholding.
He disclosed that the government has directed security agencies to identify, arrest and prosecute all those involved in the violence.
The commissioner reaffirmed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration’s commitment to maintaining peace, security and the rule of law across Delta State, stressing that acts of violence would not be tolerated regardless of the status or identity of the perpetrators.
“The government remains resolute in ensuring the safety of lives and property and will not condone any form of lawlessness,” Aniagwu stated.
