Political heavyweights across Delta North Senatorial District have thrown their weight behind former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, urging him to contest the district’s Senate seat in the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement came after a high-level consultative meeting convened at the official residence of the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Monday Onyeme. The motion calling on Okowa to run was formally moved by former House of Representatives Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, and seconded by Nnamdi Ezechi.
The gathering brought together influential stakeholders, political leaders, and community representatives from all nine local government areas within the district. Speakers at the meeting highlighted Okowa’s extensive experience, strong political network, and performance during his tenure as governor as key reasons for their unanimous endorsement. They expressed confidence that his presence in the Senate would amplify Delta North’s influence at the national level.
Following the meeting, the leaders paid a solidarity visit to Okowa’s residence, where representatives from the district’s three federal constituencies jointly appealed to him to accept the call to serve.
Responding to the appeal, Okowa expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming support and formally accepted the request to contest. He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering effective representation and pledged to remain accountable to the people, noting that their endorsement reinforces the responsibility entrusted to him.
