The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has paid tribute to the late former Deputy Governor, Chief Benjamin Elue, describing his contributions to governance and peace-building in Delta State as “evergreen”.

Rt Hon Guwor, who stated this in his condolence message on the demise of the former Deputy Governor to Chief James Ibori (1999-2007), said, “His contributions to governance, peacebuilding, and community development remain indelible in the annals of the history of Delta State”.

The Speaker, in the message made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, noted that Chief Elue was a distinguished patriotic Nigerian, a bridge-builder, and a man devoted to the service of Delta State and beyond.

According to Guwor, the late elder statesman, who hailed from Obior in Aniocha North, demonstrated uncommon loyalty, dedication, wisdom, and commitment to the growth and unity of the state during his tenure as Deputy Governor.

Rt Hon Guwor, who is the Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, noted that the late former Deputy Governor was a revered leader and mentor, marked by humility, integrity, and statesmanship.

“His counsel was always measured, his leadership inclusive, and his passion for the progress of Delta State unwavering. He will be remembered not only for the office he held but for the legacy of service he leaves behind,” he added.

The Speaker extended condolences to Elue’s family, Obior community, and the people of Delta State, saying, “On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the good people of his community, and all Deltans who share in this painful loss.

“We pray that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and gives his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May his legacy continue to inspire present and future generations of leaders.”
