The Delta State Government has indefinitely suspended the Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads), Hon. Izeze Rume Yakubu Reuben, over allegations linking him to the assault of a senior government protocol official.
The suspension takes immediate effect and is intended to pave the way for security agencies to conduct an unbiased investigation into the allegations.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, the government said the allegations concern an alleged assault involving the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Mr. Simon Mudi, popularly known as “Temple,” at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun.
The state government said the decision was taken to ensure that the investigation is conducted without interference and in accordance with due process.
According to the statement, the Delta State Government remains committed to maintaining public safety, law and order, and protecting the sanctity of human lives.
The government stressed that these principles would be upheld in all circumstances, including when allegations involve officials or institutions of the state.
The suspension will remain in force indefinitely pending the outcome of the investigation by the relevant security agencies.
