Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has called on Nigerians to remain committed to democratic ideals and support the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that the country will emerge stronger despite current economic and social challenges.

In a Democracy Day message marking June 12, Dafinone described the date as a historic symbol of the sacrifices, resilience, and determination of Nigerians in the struggle for democratic governance, justice, and national development.

According to the senator, June 12 serves as a reminder of the enduring power of the people’s will and the need to preserve the democratic values for which many patriots fought and sacrificed.

He noted that Nigeria’s democratic journey since 1999 has witnessed steady progress despite numerous challenges, stressing that democracy remains the best system of government for ensuring accountability, citizen participation, and peaceful political change.

“While our nation may be grappling with economic and social difficulties, like many other nations, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to democracy as the best form of government,” Dafinone said.

The lawmaker urged Nigerians to continue supporting and praying for President Tinubu’s administration as it implements reforms aimed at repositioning the country for economic growth, stability, and sustainable development.

He acknowledged that some of the ongoing economic policies require patience and sacrifice but maintained that the long-term benefits of the reforms are already becoming evident.

“With unity, perseverance, and collective commitment, Nigeria will emerge stronger and better positioned to fulfil its immense potential,” he stated.

Dafinone also encouraged citizens, particularly those in Delta Central Senatorial District, to play active roles in the democratic process through voting and civic engagement.

He specifically called on eligible voters who have yet to register to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), emphasizing that every vote remains a powerful tool for shaping leadership and governance.

“The future of our nation depends on the choices we make, and every vote remains a powerful instrument for shaping good governance and leadership,” he said.

The senator expressed appreciation to the people of Delta Central for their continued trust and support, thanking them for the confidence reposed in him as their representative in the National Assembly.

He also commended residents for their support for the administration of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Dafinone urged the people of Delta Central to remain politically engaged and strategically positioned within the nation’s political landscape.

“Delta Central must remain at the centre of national politics and development. We cannot afford to be spectators in the affairs that shape our future or return to opposition politics,” he said.

The senator called for continued unity and support for the APC, describing the party as a viable platform for advancing the interests of the people and building a more prosperous Nigeria.

He congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Delta Central and contributing to Nigeria’s democratic growth and development.
