The new Vice-Chancellor of University of Delta, Agbor, Professor Eric Eboh, on Tuesday formally assumed duty, pledging to build on the institution’s existing foundation and steer it to greater heights through a strategic development framework anchored on research, innovation and institutional excellence.

Eboh, who becomes the second Vice-Chancellor of the university located in Ika South Local Government Area, said his administration would align closely with the vision and mission of the institution while consolidating the achievements of the pioneer leadership.

Speaking shortly after taking over, the Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence in his mandate, stating that with divine guidance and collective effort, the university would witness accelerated progress.

He emphasized that his leadership would focus on providing direction that advances UNIDEL into a model institution for academic and research excellence.

Central to his agenda is a development blueprint tagged “Project RAISE UNIDEL Higher,” built on five key pillars: Research and Innovation; Academic Excellence; ICT optimisation in teaching, learning and administration; Staff professional development and welfare; and a conducive environment for staff, students and stakeholders.

According to him, the research and innovation component will focus on strengthening the university’s ecosystem to drive national impact, while academic excellence will ensure adherence to best standards in teaching, learning and academic management.

He added that the ICT pillar would enhance digitalisation across teaching, research and service delivery.

Eboh also highlighted staff development and welfare as critical to achieving institutional goals, noting that a motivated and professionally fulfilled workforce is essential for productivity.

He further stressed the need to maintain an enabling environment that supports both academic and administrative activities.

Describing his approach as one rooted in “growth and sustainability,” the Vice-Chancellor assured that his administration would be guided by transparency, integrity, accountability, collaboration, teamwork, consultation and feedback.

He said under his leadership, the university would not only elevate its brand but also align with global best practices in academic and research management to deliver measurable national impact.

Eboh called on staff, students and stakeholders to support his administration, stressing that collaboration would be key to achieving the institution’s vision.

“I solicit the cooperation and collaboration of all stakeholders as we work together to move the university forward,” he said.

His assumption of office marks a new phase in the development of the University of Delta, Agbor, as expectations rise for reforms and strategic growth under his leadership.
