‎The Edo State House of Assembly, in its continuous effort to promote transparency and accountability in governance, has constituted two ad-hoc committees to investigate the Radisson Blu Hotel and the Museum of West African Arts (MoWA) Projects.
‎
‎The committee on the Radisson Blu Hotel Project is chaired by the Majority Leader, Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu, with the following members:
‎
‎Hon. Addeh Isibor
‎
‎Hon. Sunday Aghedo
‎
‎Hon. Ojezele Sunday
‎
‎Hon. Eric Okaka
‎
‎Hon. Donald Okogbe
‎
‎Hon. Kaycee Osamwonyi
‎
‎
‎The committee on the MoWA Project is chaired by Hon. Addeh Isibor, with the following members:
‎
‎Hon. Andrew Osadolor
‎
‎Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu
‎
‎Hon. Eugene Inegbeboh
‎
‎Hon. Edosa Richard
‎
‎Rt.Hon. Yekini Idaiye
‎
‎Hon. Lecky Hussein Mustapha
‎
‎
‎Both committees are mandated to investigate the status, financial expenditures, and progress of the respective projects and to report back to the House within one month.
‎
‎In another development, the House considered a report of the house committee on Judiciary, Human rights and Legal Matters on a Bill for a Law to Repeal the Customary Court of Appeal Law, 2025 and to Enact a Law to Establish the Customary Court of Appeal, Edo State, and for Other Matters Connected Therewith.” The report was adopted after consideration by the Committee of the Whole.
‎
‎Also at today’s plenary, the House also adopted the report of the Committee on Public Petitions on the reinstatement of Mrs. Raji Ojo Obafemi and Mr. Kassim Abdullafeez Dania, two officers of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) dismissed by the Board in 2022.
‎
‎According to the report, both officers were employed on 30th October, 2015, and their appointments confirmed on 14th November, 2019. Their dismissal on 18th October, 2022, came after allegations that some tax collectors paid money into their accounts without following due process.
‎
‎The Committee found that by the time it convened on the matter, the EIRS Board had already been reconstituted. Consequently, it recommended that Mrs. Raji Ojo Obafemi and Mr. Kassim Abdullafeez Dania be referred back to the EIRS for reinstatement. The House adopted the recommendation.
‎
‎The House subsequently adjourned its sitting to Wednesday, 22nd October, 2025.
