The Edo State Government has announced that training for newly recruited Forest Guards will commence on June 5, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen security and enhance forest protection across the state.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Public Safety and Security, Rt. Hon. Festus Ebea, the government said the six-week training programme is scheduled to begin at the Police Training School, Ogida Barracks, Benin City.
According to the statement, all candidates who have successfully completed profiling by the Department of State Services (DSS) and undergone medical screening at Edo Specialist Hospital are required to report to the training facility on or before 5:00 p.m. on the commencement date.
The government advised recruits to arrive with all necessary documentation and comply fully with the regulations and protocols of the training institution.
It further noted that successful candidates would receive information regarding additional training locations after reporting to the designated centre.
The state government urged participants to take the exercise seriously, describing the training as a critical step in preparing the newly recruited Forest Guards for their role in safeguarding forests and supporting security operations across Edo State.
