BENIN CITY — The Edo State Command and Control Centre has urged residents to promptly report security threats, fire outbreaks, accidents, domestic violence and other life-threatening emergencies, warning against delaying until situations escalate.
The Centre, in a public safety advisory, encouraged residents to use its WhatsApp emergency channel, 0903 799 9871, to seek assistance whenever they encounter an emergency.
According to the Edo State Command and Control Centre, residents can send a text message or voice note through WhatsApp, providing details of the incident as well as their location to enable the appropriate response.
The Centre stressed that early reporting could be crucial in preventing emergencies from becoming more serious and ensuring that help reaches affected persons as quickly as possible.
“Help starts with reaching out,” the Centre stated, urging residents to remain alert and take immediate action whenever they encounter a potentially dangerous situation.
The advisory covers a range of emergencies, including security threats, fire outbreaks, road and domestic accidents, domestic violence and other incidents that pose an immediate threat to lives and property.
The Edo State Command and Control Centre therefore called on residents to save the emergency WhatsApp number and use it whenever urgent intervention is required.
The Centre concluded its message with a simple appeal to residents: “Stay alert. Don’t wait. Reach out!”
