WARRI, Delta State — MANROY Global Services Limited, in partnership with TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited, has donated a brand-new 18-seater bus to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, to enhance the mobility of journalists and support their professional activities.
The presentation, which took place at MANROY’s office along the DSC Expressway in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, was witnessed by the Ovie of Great Idjerhe Kingdom and media veteran, HRM King Monday Obukohwo Whiskey, PhD.
Speaking during the presentation, the Managing Director of MANROY Global Services Limited, Mr. Collins Okorie, said the donation was made in recognition of the cordial relationship and collaboration between the company, the NUJ and its operating partner, TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited.
Okorie said the bus was intended to assist journalists in carrying out their duties, noting that the media plays a critical role in disseminating information and sustaining an informed society.
“You know, in society, without journalism, information will not be disseminated. So, you are an important part of society, and without you there is no society,” he said.
Also speaking, the Administration Manager of TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited, Princess Daisy Jaja, said the donation was in line with the company’s policy of supporting the NUJ, particularly in addressing the mobility needs of journalists during official assignments and events.
She explained that having a dedicated vehicle would enable members of the Chapel to travel together for assignments, rather than relying on multiple vehicles.
“It’s always very hard to get pockets of people in different vehicles. But if they are in their bus, they will go together and come back together,” Jaja said.
She noted that TANTITA had maintained a strong relationship with the NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel and had previously supported the union by building a befitting secretariat for the journalists.
Jaja described the bus donation as another significant milestone in the partnership between the companies and the journalists, expressing optimism that the vehicle would serve its intended purpose.
“It’s a very big feat that our partners, MANROY, imagined and kept quiet. So, we pray that the bus helps in every angle it’s supposed to,” she said.
The Ovie of Great Idjerhe Kingdom, HRM King Monday Obukohwo Whiskey, PhD, commended MANROY Global Services and TANTITA Security Services for the gesture.
The traditional ruler urged both companies and the NUJ to sustain their existing relationship and deepen collaboration for the benefit of the media and the wider society.
In his response, the Chairman of the NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, Okakuro Akpokona Omafuaire, expressed appreciation to the managements of TANTITA and MANROY for the donation.
Omafuaire said the bus would significantly improve the ability of journalists to move collectively for assignments and other professional engagements.
“We are happy you have increased our propensity to do our jobs. Driving that vehicle alone everywhere is a campaign for TANTITA and MANROY. We will drive it and use it to campaign for the companies’ support everywhere,” he said.
He further appealed to the management of MANROY to continue to open its doors to the NUJ for more opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
Earlier, Mr. Silver Ofugara welcomed members of the NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel and the traditional ruler to MANROY’s office for the presentation.
The donation is expected to enhance the mobility of members of the Chapel and facilitate their coverage of events and other professional assignments across the region.
