Women from various markets across Edo State staged a protest at New Market, located along Second East Circular Road in Benin City, Edo State Capitol.
The protest was aimed at voicing their grievances against Pastor Josephine Ibhaguezejele over alleged extortion.
The protesters who matched in unison to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Secretariat, Government House and the Oba’s palace with placards of different inscriptions said they want the Edo State able Governor to come to their aid.
The market women who shot down their businesses and lock up their shops resulting in heavy traffic congestion alleged that Pastor Josephine Ibhaguezejele has been collecting #1.5million Naira from market women leaders which they frowned at.
When Pastor Josephine Ibhaguezejele was however contacted, she denied the allegations saying that “I don’t even know where #1.5m is coming from, I don’t really know”.
