The Edo State Government has confirmed plans to partner with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited on the establishment of a 10,000 barrels-per-day condensate refinery to be located in Oredo and Orhionmwon Local Government Areas of the state.
Governor Monday Okpebholo disclosed this on Thursday after receiving the management of NNPC Limited, led by the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Alhaji Mumuni Dagazia, on a courtesy visit.
According to the governor, the refinery project is expected to be completed within 24 to 36 months and, when operational, will supply fuel to Edo State and neighbouring states, while creating jobs, stimulating industrial growth, and contributing to poverty reduction.

Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s full commitment to the project, assuring NNPC Limited of land security and all necessary institutional support to ensure its successful execution.
“This partnership aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda and our broader vision to position Edo State as a strong hub for energy, investment, and economic development,” the governor said.

He described the refinery project as a major milestone for the state, stressing that his administration remains focused on delivering tangible economic benefits to the people of Edo.
The visit underscores growing collaboration between Edo State and key national institutions aimed at strengthening energy infrastructure and accelerating economic development in the region.
