Edo State University Iyamho has secured a prestigious international interdisciplinary research grant valued at 5 million Norwegian Kroner (NOK) in collaboration with global academic partners.

The university won the grant alongside University of Oslo in Norway, Nagoya University in Japan, and Dongguk University in South Korea.

The grant, awarded under the INTPART Programme by the Research Council of Norway, will support the Life on Metal Surfaces (LIMES) Project, an international collaborative research initiative examining the interaction between cells, bacteria, and metals.

The LIMES project brings together experts from several disciplines, including biomaterials, clinical dentistry, microbiology, biotechnology, materials science, and biomedical innovation, aimed at advancing scientific knowledge in these fields.

According to the university, the project’s findings are expected to have practical applications in healthcare, biotechnology, the food industry, and sustainable development, while also providing training opportunities for emerging researchers.

The development further strengthens the global research footprint of Edo State University, Iyamho, and highlights its growing reputation as a centre for innovative research and international academic collaboration.

The information was disclosed in a statement by Kelly Quincy Amaechi, Public Relations Officer of Edo State University, Iyamho.
