The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has congratulated Muslims in Edo State and across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Adha celebration, urging them to uphold the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, love, and peaceful coexistence as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, Governor Okpebholo described Eid-el-Adha as a significant period for reflection, devotion, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.
According to the governor, the lessons of the Islamic festival should inspire citizens to work together for the peace, unity, and development of Edo State and Nigeria as a whole.
Okpebholo commended Muslim faithful in the state for their prayers, support, and contributions toward the growth and stability of Edo State, assuring them of his administration’s continued commitment to inclusive governance, infrastructural development, and improved welfare for all residents.
He also called on citizens to use the festive period to promote harmony, extend kindness to the less privileged, and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.
The governor further urged residents to continue supporting government efforts aimed at building a prosperous and secure Edo State while praying for Allah’s guidance, mercy, and blessings upon the nation.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Edo State, I warmly felicitate with our Muslim brothers and sisters on the celebration of Eid-el-Adha. May Allah accept our sacrifices and reward our acts of worship,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.
