The Energy and Maritime Reporters of Nigeria (EMR), Edo State Chapter, have congratulated the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, on his appointment as the Acting Managing Director of Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS).
Comrade Alenkhe was recently appointed by the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to head the state-owned radio and television broadcasting organization, a development that has been widely applauded by media practitioners and stakeholders within and outside Edo State.
In a congratulatory statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of EMR Edo State Chapter, Comrades Andrew Ohwobetehe and Francis Ogbuagu respectively, the association described the appointment as well-deserved and a clear demonstration of the governor’s commitment to excellence, competence, and professionalism in public service.
The association noted that Comrade Festus Alenkhe has over the years distinguished himself as an accomplished journalist, exemplary union leader, and astute administrator whose dedication to the growth and development of the media profession remains unparalleled.
According to the statement, the appointment amounts to “putting a square peg in a square hole,” considering Alenkhe’s vast experience, leadership qualities, and remarkable contributions to journalism and media management.
