Enugu State has been thrown into deep mourning following reports that Senator Okey Ezea, representing Enugu North Senatorial District, has passed away in the United Kingdom, where he was receiving medical treatment.
Senator Ezea, the last remaining Labour Party (LP) lawmaker from Enugu State in the National Assembly, was a prominent figure in the Nsukka region and secured his Senate seat under the LP platform in the 2023 general elections.
The news of his reported passing was shared on Tuesday by media personality Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, who announced it in a Facebook post. “Sad News. Senator Okey Ezea, representing Enugu North, is dead… Rest in Peace,” he wrote.
The announcement quickly sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many expressing shock, grief, and disbelief over the senator’s sudden death.
