An education advocate, Sagacious Prof, has outlined key strategies students in tertiary institutions can adopt to improve their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) and achieve academic excellence.

In a recent advisory, the academic emphasized that the CGPA remains a critical measure of students’ performance, often determining the class of degree awarded at graduation.

According to Sagacious Prof, the foundation for a strong CGPA is typically established during the early years of university education, particularly at the 100 and 200 levels, when academic workloads are relatively less demanding. He noted that students who perform well at this stage are better positioned to sustain high academic standing in later, more rigorous years.

Highlighting factors that contribute to strong academic performance, he identified diligence, discipline, and effective time management as essential. Regular lecture attendance, timely completion of assignments, and consistent study habits were described as key drivers of success.

The education expert also stressed the importance of identifying and addressing academic weaknesses early, encouraging students to seek support from lecturers, peers, or additional learning resources where necessary.

He further recommended participation in extra classes, including tutorials and revision sessions, as a means of deepening understanding of complex subjects.

Sagacious Prof added that setting clear academic goals and maintaining focus can significantly influence outcomes, noting that students who remain committed to their objectives are more likely to achieve higher CGPAs.

He concluded that academic excellence is not accidental but the result of intentional effort, discipline, and strategic planning throughout a student’s academic journey.
