Jim Ovia has retired as chairman of Zenith Bank following the completion of his tenure, the bank announced on Tuesday.
In a statement, Zenith Bank confirmed that Ovia stepped down after serving the maximum 12 years permitted for a non-executive director and chairman, in line with corporate governance guidelines set by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Ovia, who founded the bank and played a pivotal role in its growth into one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, exits the position as part of regulatory compliance requirements.
The development marks the end of a significant chapter in the bank’s leadership, as it transitions in accordance with established governance standards.
