As Nigerians joined the rest of the Catholic community across the globe to mark Father’s Day this Sunday, a deeply moving prayer from a Delta State woman, Mrs. Mary Nwaeke, for her husband, Nkem Nwaeke, has captured attention for its faith, depth, and emotion.

In the tribute, shared on a social media platform, Mrs. Nwaeke thanked God for her husband, describing him as a man who “carries the calling of fatherhood with strength, love, and quiet sacrifice.”

“Our beloved omni-awesome GOD, Thank You for the gift of my husband,” the message began. “On this special day, I lift him up to YOU with a grateful heart.”

The prayer went on to seek divine wisdom and strength for her husband in his role as father and leader of the home.

Mrs. Nwaeke also offered reassurance that a father’s labour is never in vain, noting: “Let him always know that his efforts, both seen and unseen, are deeply valued. May YOUR peace rest upon him, YOUR joy fill his heart, and YOUR presence surround him in every step he takes.”

Continuing, Mrs. Nwaeke stated: “Lord, bless my husband always with wisdom to lead, patience to nurture, and grace to guide our family in YOUR truth. When he feels weary, renew his strength. When he faces uncertainty, fill him with courage and clarity.

“Help him to be a reflection of YOUR love — steady, compassionate, and faithful. Protect him, provide for him, and continue shaping him into the man and father YOU have called him to be.”

The message ended with a blessing over their home and a personal note to her husband: “May our home always be a place where YOUR love is the foundation and his leadership is a blessing. Today and always, I thank YOU for him — a precious gift from YOU. Happy Fathers’ Day, BABE!”

The tribute by Mrs. Nwaeke to her husband, who is the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, underscores the often unseen role of prayer and spousal support in strengthening fatherhood, especially amid the economic and social pressures many Nigerian families face.

Across the Catholic community and beyond, Father’s Day was marked with Mass, family gatherings, and messages celebrating fathers as providers, protectors, and role models.
