Scripture Focus: 1 Timothy 6:12
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
In the preceding verses (1 Timothy 6:3–10), we are exhorted to live lives marked by godliness with contentment. This posture equips us to overcome the challenges we face as children of God.
There are, however, dangerous distractions—burdens that can hinder our spiritual progress and make us vulnerable in life’s battles. Chief among them are:
An insatiable desire for material possessions
The love of money
Scripture calls us to flee from these and instead pursue virtues that strengthen our faith:
Righteousness
Godliness
Faith
Love
Patience
Meekness
These qualities empower us to fight the good fight of faith.
Beloved, eternal life is priceless—far beyond anything this world can offer. We must remain steadfast, contending both with internal struggles and external pressures.
As it is written in Ephesians 6:12, our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of darkness. Though Jesus Christ has already secured the victory, each believer must actively walk in and manifest that victory in daily life.
To do so, we are instructed to:
Put on the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:11–17)
When we are fully equipped with God’s armour, we become:
Strong in the Lord
Empowered by His might
Able to stand firm against every challenge
As we walk in this truth, the victory of Christ will be made manifest in our lives—in our families, careers, businesses, ministries, academics, and every area of endeavor.
May the triumph of Christ over every power of darkness be evident in your life today and always, in the mighty name of Yeshua—who died, was buried, and rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. Amen.
