It was a day of joy, gratitude and emotional celebration as the Fostering Hopes Foundation marked its second anniversary with a humanitarian outreach to the Rose Ilogbo Orphanage Home in Ughelli, Delta Central, where 18 children and their caregivers received essential supplies and educational materials.
The Foundation’s team, led by its Director of Community Engagement and Development, Comrade Patrick Ochei, travelled from Asaba to the orphanage on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, as part of activities commemorating the organisation’s second anniversary.
During the visit, the Foundation donated school bags, books, rice, Indomie noodles, drinks, biscuits, detergents, tissue papers and other essential items to support the children and caregivers.
Addressing the management of the Home, Ochei introduced the vision and mission of Fostering Hopes Foundation, describing the outreach as a divinely orchestrated intervention.
He called on the management and children to remember the Canadian-based Executive Director of the Foundation, Nkechi Ukome, in their prayers for her continued commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable families across Delta State.
According to him, the Foundation remains committed to ensuring that vulnerable families thrive and that children enrolled in its scholarship programme have access to opportunities and the protections guaranteed to every child under Nigerian child-rights laws.
Responding, the Director of Rose Ilogbo Orphanage Home, Mrs. Rose Ilogbo, expressed appreciation for the gesture, saying the donation came at a particularly significant time.
Ilogbo said she had been praying for assistance, especially school bags and educational materials, ahead of the children’s return to school.
She said she never expected the prayers to be answered through an organisation coming from as far away as Asaba, particularly less than a week before the commencement of the new school session.
“God indeed works in mysterious ways,” she said, while commending the leadership of Fostering Hopes Foundation for remembering the children.
She prayed for continued blessings, growth and greater opportunities for the Foundation to expand its humanitarian interventions and touch more lives.
The children, visibly excited by the visit, responded with prayers, songs and expressions of gratitude as they celebrated the gesture and the people they believed God had used to bring smiles to their faces.
Members of the Foundation’s team included Pastor Mrs. Ethel Uto, Programme Director, Education Opportunities and Early Childhood Development; Deaconess Mrs. Zeniat Umoru, Programme Director, Family Stability and Support; Mrs. Happiness Godwin, Programme Director, Economic Empowerment; and Miss Onyinyechi Emeka, Social Media Manager.
Volunteers, including Comrades Michael Ilaya and Dominic Adewole, also participated in the outreach, providing support with reporting and transportation.
The anniversary outreach reflects the Foundation’s broader commitment to supporting vulnerable children and families and creating opportunities for them to build more secure and hopeful futures.
