ABUJA — Activist Sandra Duru, also known as Prof. Mgbeke, has vowed to continue speaking out against what she describes as injustice, abuse of power and poor governance, saying she would not be intimidated by political office or institutional authority.
In a strongly worded statement circulated publicly, Duru said she was aware that her position could frighten some people but insisted that challenging those in positions of power was not new to her.
She said that despite changes in Nigeria’s political landscape and the individuals holding positions of authority, her determination to demand accountability remained unchanged.
Duru also called for allegations submitted to law-enforcement authorities to be properly investigated and, where supported by evidence and applicable law, prosecuted through due process.
“Let the evidence be tested in court. Let the law take its course,” she said, while arguing against what she described as attempts to avoid accountability.
Her latest comments come amid an ongoing public dispute involving Duru, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Recent reports have highlighted fresh allegations by Duru concerning her interactions with Akpabio, while noting that key claims and a circulated audio recording have not been independently authenticated.
Duru concluded her statement by declaring that she would continue to speak out regardless of who occupies political office or controls positions of authority.
