Media personality Stella Justice Nnennaya has paid tribute to Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, saying the sport will forever remember his immense contributions, while maintaining that Argentine star Lionel Messi remains her greatest footballer of all time.
In a post shared on her social media page, Stella reflected on the possibility that the next FIFA World Cup could mark Ronaldo’s final appearance at football’s biggest tournament, although the 41-year-old has not officially announced whether he will retire from international football after the competition.
“If this is your last FIFA World Cup, thank you for the memories. Football will never forget your name,” she wrote.
Addressing criticism from some football fans who accused her of disliking Ronaldo after she predicted Spain would win and identified Messi as her preferred player, Stella dismissed the claim, saying admiration for one football legend does not amount to hostility toward another.
According to her, choosing Messi over Ronaldo is simply a matter of personal preference.
“Choosing Messi does not mean I hate Ronaldo. It simply means he is my favourite,” she stated, adding, “Ronaldo is a football legend. Messi is my GOAT. Two things can be true at the same time.”
She concluded her message on a light-hearted note, urging Ronaldo’s supporters not to misinterpret her comments, insisting that she had only expressed her personal opinion.
The FIFA World Cup, held every four years, remains the most prestigious tournament in international football, bringing together the world’s top national teams in a competition watched by billions of fans globally. The tournament has long served as the stage on which some of football’s greatest players, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, have cemented their legacies through memorable performances and record-breaking achievements.
