The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, has urged Nigerians to completely avoid touts and middlemen when seeking passport or other immigration services, stressing that the Service has strengthened its channels to provide direct, transparent, and round-the-clock assistance to citizens.
Nandap, who issued the advisory on Friday, explained that the NIS has upgraded its operations to ensure faster processing times and improved customer support. She noted that applicants no longer need to rely on unofficial agents who often exploit citizens through inflated fees, false promises, and fraudulent practices.
According to the Comptroller General, the Immigration Service now operates a 24/7 support system through its official platforms, enabling Nigerians to make inquiries, lodge complaints, and track applications at any time of the day. She emphasized that genuine services are only offered through accredited NIS offices and digital portals, urging the public to make use of these credible channels.
Nandap reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and improved service delivery, adding that ongoing reforms are aimed at eliminating bottlenecks that used to push citizens into the hands of unauthorized intermediaries.
She further encouraged applicants to follow all official guidelines and warned that engaging touts could lead to delays, financial loss, or even invalid applications.
