BENIN CITY — Former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has accepted the outcome of the party’s Edo South Senatorial District primary, calling on members and supporters to close ranks and work together for the success of the party in the forthcoming general election.
In a statement dated July 13, 2026, Ize-Iyamu said he accepted the outcome of the May 18, 2026, primary election in good faith after extensive consultations with party leaders, members, supporters, youths, women and stakeholders across Edo South, Nigeria and the diaspora.
“The APC Edo South Senatorial Primary held on May 18, 2026, has come to a close. Our party has completed its democratic process, and a candidate has emerged. I accept the decision of our party in good faith and appeal to all our members, followers and friends to do same,” he said.
Describing the APC as a platform built on service, sacrifice and discipline, Ize-Iyamu stressed that the party’s collective interest should take precedence over individual political ambitions.
“The All Progressives Congress is greater than any individual ambition. Political contests may test our preferences, but they must never diminish our common purpose,” he stated.
He expressed appreciation to his supporters, coordinators, volunteers and grassroots mobilisers for their loyalty and commitment throughout his senatorial campaign, saying their encouragement and prayers remained a source of strength.
Ize-Iyamu also thanked supporters in the diaspora for their overwhelming backing, assuring them of his continued commitment to the development of Edo South Senatorial District.
He urged party members to remain peaceful, reject divisive tendencies and embrace reconciliation in the interest of the APC and the people of Edo South.
“Now is the time to reconcile, close ranks, and focus on the greater task before us. Our collective responsibility to serve the people of Edo South is far greater than any individual aspiration,” he said.
The APC chieftain reaffirmed his commitment to working with party leaders and stakeholders to strengthen the party, secure victory in the general election and promote the development of Edo South.
“The contest is behind us. The future is before us. Let us move forward with one resolve, and one commitment—to build a stronger APC and a more prosperous Edo South,” he added.
Ize-Iyamu concluded by urging members to remain united, saying history would remember not the contest, but what the party achieved together.
