ABUJA — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new procedure allowing candidates who have lost access to the phone numbers or email addresses linked to their profiles to update their details.
The board announced the development in a video shared on its official X handle on Wednesday, saying the measure was designed to assist candidates who can no longer access their registered SIM cards or email accounts.
According to JAMB, affected candidates can now replace their lost SIM cards or change the email addresses registered on their JAMB profiles.
“Candidates who lost their SIM card can now swap it with a new one. And those who also lost access to their email addresses on the JAMB portal can now change to a new one,” the board said.
How to change phone number or email on JAMB portal
JAMB said candidates seeking to use the service must follow a series of steps, beginning with obtaining a court affidavit.
1. Obtain a court affidavit
Candidates must visit a High Court and obtain an affidavit supporting their request to change their registered phone number or email address.
2. Log into JAMB e-Facility
After obtaining the affidavit, candidates should access their JAMB e-Facility account.
3. Select ‘Penalties’
On the e-Facility dashboard, candidates should click on the ‘Penalties’ option.
4. Select SIM Swap/Email Change
Under the Penalties section, candidates should choose ‘SIM Swap/Email Change Penalty Payment.’
5. Make payment
Candidates are required to pay the prescribed fee through the JAMB portal.
6. Visit a designated JAMB office
After making the payment, candidates must visit a designated JAMB office to complete the process.
The board said the service is available only at designated JAMB PTC/PRC Centres.
7. Provide profile information
At the centre, candidates will be required to provide their profile code and existing GSM number.
8. Complete biometric verification
Candidates must undergo biometric verification as part of the process.
9. Upload the affidavit
The scanned copy of the court affidavit obtained from the High Court must also be uploaded to complete the request.
Who can use the service?
JAMB said the facility is intended for candidates with genuine cases involving the loss of access to their registered GSM numbers or email addresses.
The board also warned that the service can only be used once, advising candidates to ensure that the replacement phone number or email address they provide is accurate and accessible.
The development is expected to help affected candidates regain access to their JAMB profiles and receive important examination-related communications without having to continue using inaccessible contact details.
