Love, culture and celebration came alive on January 29, 2026, as Oghenetega Doris Orube of Ogbe in Ekrowhe Quarters, Ogbe-Udu, Udu Local Government Area, was traditionally joined in marriage to her heartthrob, Oghenero Ohwobete of Ibrede Community, Ndokwa East Local Government Area, both of Delta State.

The colourful traditional marriage ceremony, held at the bride’s father’s compound, was conducted in strict adherence to age-long customs and attracted dignitaries, family members, friends and well-wishers from all walks of life, who gathered to witness the historic union.

A particularly emotional moment came when the bride, radiating excitement and anticipation, was presented before her father, Pa Orube, and formally asked if she was willing to marry her chosen partner. Her confident affirmative response drew loud cheers from guests and signaled the official acceptance of the drinks and kola nuts presented by the groom’s family, sealing the traditional rites.

Visibly overjoyed, Pa Orube expressed gratitude to God for guiding his daughter into what he described as “the will of God in marriage.” He proceeded to pray for and bless the union, committing the couple’s future into God’s hands.

In fulfillment of cultural demands, Oghenetega Doris was later ceremonially seated on the lap of her husband, Oghenero, a symbolic act that drew applause and admiration from the crowd.

The celebration reached its peak when the couple took to the dance floor, displaying joy and affection to the delight of guests, many of whom could not hide their admiration for the elegance and uniqueness of the occasion.

Overwhelmed with happiness, the newlyweds expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for the fulfillment of His promises in their lives and thanked everyone who came to share in their joy.

Guests were treated to sumptuous entertainment, with several attendees remarking that they had “never seen such a celebration done in this fashion before.”
