The Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has completed the construction of its lock-up shops, with the facility now ready for inauguration.

The development was disclosed by the Delta State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, who expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the project.

Oyowe, who spoke with visible excitement, said the completion of the lock-up shops, alongside other proposed and upcoming facilities being attracted to the council, represented significant achievements of his administration.

According to him, the feats would not have been possible without the support and collaboration of the Delta State Government, as well as the dedication and unwavering support of members of the union.

“Actually, it was Asiwaju Sola Adebayo that contributed most to the commencement and completion of the project. He laid the foundation in February, 2024. His financial support is more than 25 percent of the cost of the entire project”.

Continuing, he said, “We have eight shops in all. By today’s value, it can give the council a minimum of N4 million yearly”.

The NUJ chairman, while expressing optimism that more achievements would be recorded before the expiration of his administration, appealed to members to continue to support the leadership with understanding and prayers as the administration gradually winds down.

Meanwhile, members of the union have continued to commend and congratulate the Oyowe-led administration for the achievement.

Some members described the project as a remarkable accomplishment, with one hailing Oyowe as the “capacity chairman” and another commending the beauty of the completed facility while praying for God’s continued blessings upon him.

Others also congratulated the chairman, describing the development as “another win” and expressing gratitude to God for the achievement.

The completion of the lock-up shops is expected to further enhance the economic and infrastructural development of the Delta State NUJ Council.
