The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 22 packages of suspected cocaine valued at approximately N1 billion along the Badagry–Seme corridor.
The seizure was made by officers of the NCS Seme Area Command and was formally handed over on Friday at the Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, who was represented by Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection, Timi Bomodi, said the drugs were intercepted in the early hours of February 10 at about 3:00 a.m.
According to Adeniyi, the operation underscores the Service’s continued vigilance and commitment to securing Nigeria’s borders against illicit trafficking and other transnational crimes.
He added that the collaboration between Customs and the NDLEA remains critical in dismantling drug smuggling networks and protecting national security.
The NDLEA is expected to conduct further investigation into the seizure.
