The South South Zonal Leadership of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has congratulated Hajia Hadizah Ifeyinwa Omowole on her appointment as Head of Lagos Operations of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), describing the elevation as well-deserved.
In a press statement signed by Zonal Vice Chairperson, Comrade Stella Macaulay, and Zonal Secretary, Comrade Eunice Emeyazia, the zone commended Omowole’s track record as a seasoned journalist, administrator, and former National President of NAWOJ.
The statement noted that throughout her career, Omowole has demonstrated professionalism, integrity, courage, and strong leadership capacity, adding that her contributions to the advancement of women in journalism and her commitment to ethical media practice remain remarkable.
According to the zonal leadership, her appointment to oversee NAN Lagos — one of the agency’s most strategic operational centres — reflects the confidence reposed in her competence, experience, and strategic vision.
“We are confident that under her leadership, Lagos operations will continue to witness strengthened editorial direction, operational excellence, and institutional growth,” the statement read.
The zone further observed that the positive impact of her leadership had been evident even prior to the formal confirmation of her appointment.
While celebrating the milestone, the South South leadership said Omowole’s achievement serves as an inspiration to women journalists across the region and beyond. The group also prayed for wisdom, strength, and continued success for her as she assumes the national responsibility.
The statement concluded with a warm congratulatory message, describing her affectionately as “Mother General.”
