Members of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Sunday gathered in Asaba for a thanksgiving Mass to formally flag off activities for the 2025 Press Week celebration.

The thanksgiving service, held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, West End, Asaba, began at 8:30 a.m. with hymns and prayers offered for a successful and impactful Press Week.
The week-long celebration will climax on Thursday, November 20, 2025, with the Grand Opening Ceremony, Lecture, and Awards scheduled to hold at Ochid Hotel, DBS Road, Asaba, at 11:00 a.m.

Notable personalities present at the Church service included the Delta State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe; Publisher of Spotnews Online, Comrade Gilbert Olie; Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Comrade Nkem Nwaeke; as well as Chairman of the 2025 Press Week Committee, Comrade Pere Botu and Secretary, Bath Ozah.

Others include Andy Emephia, Kenneth Obieh, Monday Osayande, Dominic Igbekoyi and an Ex Officio, Comrade Felix Igbekoyi.
As part of the activities lined up for the 2025 Press Week, the union will embark on Media House Visits on Monday, November 17, followed by a Medical Check-up and Sensitization Walk at the Press Centre, Maryam Babangida Road, Asaba, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, beginning at 7:00 a.m.

With the countdown underway, members of the union are in high spirits and fully geared up for the annual celebration of professionalism, unity, and press freedom.
