The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has advised prospective corps members posted to Osun State for the 2026 Batch A Stream II orientation exercise to avoid travelling at night due to safety concerns.
The Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Ita Kubiangha, gave the warning in a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo by the scheme’s spokesperson, Catherine Otemuyiwa.
Kubiangha urged corps members to prioritise their safety by travelling only during the daytime and making use of recognised motor parks, with support from transport unions operating within the state.
He also called on transport unions to assist corps members by conveying them to the orientation camp at approved and fair rates.
According to him, the three-week orientation programme for the 2026 Batch A Stream II will run from April 22 to May 12, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for April 24.
He further appealed to parents and guardians to encourage and support their children as they embark on this phase of national service.
Kubiangha emphasised the importance of strict adherence to all safety guidelines, urging corps members to remain vigilant and security conscious at all times.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the NYSC and relevant stakeholders to ensuring the welfare and security of all corps members deployed to Osun State.
