The Goodnews Emamusi Obiodeh Foundation has announced a N10 million empowerment programme as part of activities marking the 2026 birthday of its founder, the Delta State Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, Chief Goodnews Emamusi Obiodeh.

The initiative, scheduled to coincide with the commissioner’s birthday on August 15, is aimed at supporting youths, vulnerable elderly persons, orphans, persons living with disabilities and small business owners across Isoko South and Isoko North Local Government Areas of Delta State.

In a statement signed by Marvins Obibi on behalf of the foundation’s management, the organisation said the programme was designed to transform the birthday celebration into an opportunity to give back to the community and improve the livelihoods of residents.

According to the foundation, the initiative aligns with the Opportunities for All component of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which focuses on creating opportunities for citizens to become economically productive and improve their standard of living.

Under the Youth Skill Empowerment component, financial assistance will be provided to youths from Isoko South and Isoko North who are undergoing verifiable skills acquisition, vocational training or trade programmes.

The foundation will also extend support to vulnerable elderly men and women who have no children or relatives capable of providing for their basic needs under its Elderly Care Support initiative.

Similarly, the Orphanages and Disability Aid component will provide assistance to orphanages, persons living with disabilities and individuals in need of prescription medication but who lack the financial capacity to obtain them.

The fourth component, Small Business Boost, is targeted at entrepreneurs with existing businesses. The foundation said one beneficiary is expected to be selected from each ward in Isoko South to receive financial support to strengthen and expand their businesses.

The foundation called on members of the public to nominate deserving individuals who meet the criteria for the various categories.

It urged nominators to clearly state the relevant category under which each person is being nominated and provide sufficient information to enable the foundation to verify the claims and assess the beneficiaries.

A committee comprising credible members of the forum, the foundation said, would oversee the selection process, with emphasis on fairness, transparency and potential community impact.

The foundation explained that the initiative was conceived to make the commissioner’s birthday more than a personal celebration by using the occasion to provide practical support to people in need and contribute to community development.

“Together, let us make this birthday celebration not just about one person, but about transforming lives across Isoko,” the statement said. :::
