The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027.
According to the recruitment notice, the application portal will open on August 14, 2026, and close on October 17, 2026. The application is free and must be completed online through the Nigerian Army Recruitment Portal.
Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and must be between 23 and 27 years old as of January 10, 2027.
Candidates are also required to have a minimum height of 1.68 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females. Academically, applicants must possess a first degree with at least Second Class Lower Division or an HND with a minimum of Lower Credit from an accredited institution. The qualification must have been obtained from 2018 onward.
Civilian applicants are required to possess an NYSC discharge certificate, while serving military personnel must provide an exemption certificate.
Successful candidates will be commissioned into the Nigerian Army’s Combat Arms, including Infantry and Armour, or Combat Support Arms such as Artillery, Engineers, Signals and Intelligence.
The initial commission is for 15 years, comprising 10 years of active service and a possible five-year renewal.
