Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has felicitated Muslims across Delta State and Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
In a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor extended warm greetings and best wishes to the Muslim faithful, urging them to use the celebration as an opportunity to reflect on the exemplary life, teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammad.
Governor Oborevwori said the values of compassion, humility, tolerance, peaceful coexistence, sacrifice and service to humanity associated with the Prophet’s teachings remained vital to Nigeria’s pursuit of peace, unity and sustainable development.
He called on Muslims in Delta State and across the country to renew their commitment to peaceful coexistence, love for one another and the advancement of the common good.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building an inclusive society where citizens, regardless of religious, ethnic or political affiliation, can live, work and pursue their legitimate aspirations in peace and dignity.
He also urged the Muslim community to continue supporting government’s efforts to build a peaceful, prosperous and united Delta State, while praying for continued peace, stability and progress in the state and Nigeria.
Governor Oborevwori wished the Muslim faithful a joyous, peaceful and spiritually rewarding Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
