Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, has donated a brand-new Toyota Hiace bus to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, in a move aimed at strengthening the cordial relationship between his administration and the media.

The bus was formally presented to the Chairman of the Delta State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, at the Government House, Asaba, by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon.

Speaking during the presentation, Ahon said the donation was in recognition of the longstanding relationship between the state government and the journalists’ body.

«“This bus donation is for the use of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists. This gesture is as a result of the good relationship that we have had over the years,” Ahon said on behalf of the Governor.»

Governor Oborevwori said he was optimistic that the gesture would further strengthen the partnership between his administration and the media, with the ultimate goal of promoting the interest and development of Delta State.

He congratulated the NUJ leadership and prayed that the bus would enhance the union’s operations while contributing to a stronger working relationship between the government and journalists in the state.

Responding, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, expressed appreciation to the Governor for fulfilling his promise, describing the donation as a demonstration of his commitment to keeping his word.

“We are most grateful. What the Governor has done today is a demonstration of the fact that he promises and he delivers. He made his promise and he has delivered,” Oyowe said.

The NUJ chairman noted that the gesture went beyond the provision of a means of transportation, stressing that the bus was brand-new and a modern model.

“We want to say a big thank you to His Excellency for this gesture. We do not take it for granted, and we believe that it will further cement our cordial working relationship,” he added.

Oyowe also commended Governor Oborevwori for what he described as the administration’s developmental strides across Delta State, expressing optimism that more achievements would be recorded before the end of his tenure.

He said Deltans would look back at the administration and remember Governor Oborevwori as a leader who genuinely cared about their welfare and the overall development of the state.

The NUJ chairman reaffirmed the union’s commitment to sustaining its cordial relationship with the state government, noting that the body valued both the partnership and the Governor’s gesture.

He also prayed for continued strength and wisdom for Governor Oborevwori to lead Delta State to greater heights and leave behind a legacy that would be appreciated by posterity.

Oyowe further expressed appreciation to the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu; the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu; and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, for their roles in facilitating the donation.
